I watched xue lang hu this weekend too! My new favourite song!
Hee.. kendrick and dr teoh may be pleased to know i'm a new jacky fan convert:)
His voice was REAL powerful!!!

Family time

|Mr Bean Movie| You must be wondering what Mr Bean movie has got to do with "Family time". Well, this movie is just a minute part of my AMAZING weekend and it was spent entirely with people i love. Not that i dont usually get to do that or i do not love the people around me as much most of the time, but it's the togetherness of a family which i felt that made me utterly love this weekend!
I guess living on campus gives u the luxury of sleeping till 30mins before lecture start (with still sufficent time to grab breakfast!) and taste of independence, but it also certainly removes some precious family time. Y'know, the fact that i am missing out on a hell lot at home was driven into me today when i saw how tall my cousins have grown! I'm glad that i do not stay on campus in continuum for weeks without returning home and i am proud to say that i reseve my weekends for family time only. It's really rewarding, esp when the byproduct of my choice is to feel recharged every beginning of the week!
Hope more pple stop to value time spent with their family more. Really.. you should stop and think about how much quality time u're spending with them.

ich liebe Medicine

Now that we're a week into September, i realise lessons have started proper for a about a mth plus. It feels much longer than that actually, considering how much new knowledge we've been expected to acquire and the several hectic long days which i won't forget. In fact, today was another long day from 8-5 with only a half an hour lunch break in between! Sometimes i really wish i have more time to let all that i have to learn to slowly diffuse in my head. With all the influx of information, i feel that every new thing i learn is learnt at the expense of what i previously learnt. It's terrible i tell you... this feeling that if there were to be a surprise test i am sure to fail :(
On a more cheerful note, i really enjoy what i'm learning. Not only do i get to escape from dreadful physics lectures [sorry matthew!], i'm learning things i really want to know and i actually enjoy knowing and learning about them! Apart from the early start of lectures and days i'm super sleepy, i look forward to knowing more. Mechanisms of pathways, the details of the human anatomy and all all amazes me!!!
Ok.. hope i dont sounds overly excited.. Below are some photos taken during DnD:) Our table theme was Hats and it was a gd theme cos we could take a LOT of photos with different combination of hats.

You probably can tell we had a LOT of fun!!!

Much's been Happenin'

|Dolphins on Desktop|Hmm.. i realise that it's been a while since i last posted sth here. Unfortunately, Now isnt a very gd time to do so either :( i shall just leave 2 of my fave additions to my collection :)
I promise to type again soon!

Oh, and thx to my cousin. I found another nice song!

Hurricane - Eric Benet
Standing here in disarray
A calm serenity
The winds of change can devastate
And it took this much for me
With nowhere to run and no reason left to hide
Gonna hold on
All the walls around are broken down
Now I can hear the rising sun

Surrounded by everything I want
But nothing that I need
I was blinded by the absurdity
Losing all identity
Sometimes what you fear the most is what you need
To find that road
Right around that curve a lesson learned
Now that I have the eyes to see

A hurricane, a hurricane
Is sometimes the only way to wash away the pain
A hurricane, a hurricane
Is sometimes the only thing that brings you back again

With poison toys I'd isolate
But the wind was strong and true
But now I see where the treause is
'Cause they only blocked my view
I'm spiraling down but so oblivious
Got to find my way home
There's a heart that bleeds trapped in me
But how do I break this shell of stone

A hurricane, a hurricane
Is sometimes the only way to wash away the pain
A hurricane, a hurricane
Is sometimes the only thing that brings you back again

Sometimes I cried, the tears wouldn't fall
And sometimes I tried to break those walls
And feel your love
But I came alive
When I finally found my way

new love!

|found new love| I have decided today that i will visit the netherlands for their Tulips. Tulips are really pretty but too bad they do not last as long as flowers like roses. What a pity! I would love to dry them and keep them in my room forever and rmbr them for the reasons they were given :)
Anyway, i really look fwd to seeing rows and rows of beautiful Tulips swaying in the wind. I believe that it will be a beautiful sight to behold...
Hmm.. while my friends tell me they want to go Bahamas for their honeymoon, i'm starting to think that holland's a nice option! Hee.. you must be thinking that i must be mad.. thinking of something that will only happen like a decade later.. -lol-Well, i'm sure the anticipation will add a special touch to the whole holiday.
Here's another photo i like.. I could be doing the same in a few yrs time! Bending down to take a closer sniff of such a beautiful creation...

going bananas!

|I am Crazy| A wish fulfilled, at last! It's been forever since i last baked and i cant believe how excited i still can get when i hear the oven produce that long-awaited "DING!!!" Baked Banana Chocolate Loaf today. Thx to the unique discription of time in my new recipe... i wouldnt have attempted to bake this if i hadn't been tricked to think that the cake was easy and quick to prepare... Haha.."Takes only 30min" was the only comment i saw and i didnt know it was just the preparation time. -lol- I almost flipped when i read the last line after i prepared the batter. "Bake in oven for at least 1hr 20min" Everyone thinks i'm crazy to bake at this hour.. but it's unintended.. really :)
Anyway, i took some pics of my loaves after 2hrs of suspense.. Doesnt look too fantastic but hopefully the taste will justify the time i spent on them :)

The proper way to cool your cake... [i had fun taking photos!-lol-]

Family loaf - Cool the cake in tin for 30 mins

Baby loaf - Cool the cake in tin for 20 mins

Remove cake from tin ... Be gentle with the baking paper!

Carefully peel of the baking paper

Ready to be served!

a lot about June

|Foxtrot Social Nite| Oh dear.. havent been in much of a mood to type lately. Hmm.. since everyone knows about my bad memory, i might as well do myself a favour in remembering my June that's somewhat special ;) Two hilights of my June is shown here:) First is dinner at Pine's. Though it's only a little past mid June, i'm pretty sure the impression Foxtrot Social Nite left on me will definitely make it a reason why i wont forget this June! To Enhui who invited me: It's been great pleasure accompanying you to this dinner and Many thanks to your invitation, i now have fresh insight to armylife :)

|A thousand more reasons| I can't wait to get my driving license. I feel so spoilt being driven around by a few friends / colleagues and really want to return the favour soon! One gd thing about being able to drive is not having to worry about getting home late at night. How am i supposed to get home i if i want to watch planes late at night, if i want to take a night stroll along a breezy beach or if i want to statisfy a craving for dessert aft opening hours? -grin- This pic reminds me of some happy evenings of June! Havent been that happy for a long while :) Especially during plane watching, i was totally exhilarated!

p/s A lot about love opening soon! That could be the 3rd reason why my June's special.

a lot like love

|A Lot Like Love| I have been wanting to watch this movie for the longest time. Cant believe they started playing the trailers 2 months before! The anticipation is killing me :)

It takes some people years to fall in love at first sight… A LOT LIKE LOVE is a romantic comedy about destiny, connection and the frequently fuzzy line between chance friendships and happily ever after.

A LOT LIKE LOVE traces the relationship of Oliver (ASHTON KUTCHER) and Emily (AMANDA PEET) who meet on a flight from Los Angeles to New York seven years ago – each of them declaring that they couldn't be more wrong for each other. Life keeps bringing them back together over the next seven years, but the timing never seems right. As they struggle with their different partners, careers and breakups, they turn from casual acquaintances into trusted friends who can say anything to one another.

As they each search for love and a relationship that's not fated for disaster, it takes seven years for Oliver and Emily to figure out that maybe what they really have is something…a lot like love.

echt

Those of you with powerful vocab will know the word echt. :) echt by the way, is a german word. It's really upsetting how my new-found passion interest in german didnt last long. It was very much an inital euphoria. I was excited, but i'm just so distracted now. Work's one thing, but the other's the 4 books waiting to be read on my desk :)
Anyway, on echt. I was just thinking today how important it is for things to be real. Real to be believed, real to be felt, real to be appreciated and definitely real to create an impact. It's applicable to so many things if you think about it. It could refer to feelings like happiness or pain, it could refer to an experience, it could also refer to any form of art. Perhaps my love for photography can be explained by my appreciation for authenticity. Photographs can capture the genuine moment of things. I absolutely love the following photo for example. Is the baby about to smile? Hmm.. perhaps only the photographer knows.
I'm always thanking people i realise :) but nothing is gonna stop me from doing so again :) A BIG thank you to those who never fail to make me feel this indescribable elation in this purest form. It's trully heartfelt. You know who u are and I love you all :)
[-lol- i know some of u are going to think that one of those "they"s refer to some of my fave food. what to do? pple call me a "food person" for a reason -grin-]

the greatest gift of all

This song is amazing!

It's not the flowers, wrapped in fancy paper
It's not the ring, I wear around my finger
There's nothing in all the world I need
When I have you here beside me, here beside me

So you could give me wings to fly
And catch me if I fall
Or pull the stars down from the sky
So I could wish on them all
But I couldn't ask for more
'Cos your love is the greatest gift of all

In your arms, I found a strength inside of me
And in your eyes, there's a light to guide me
I would be lost without you
And all that my heart could ever want, has come true

You could offer me the sun, the moon,
And I would still believe
You gave me everything
When you gave your heart to me

wenn du noch nur wusstest

|Tut mir leid. :)

Deutsch jetzt

|Neuschwanstein Castle| Inspiration was drawn from this castle in the designing of the Disney logo. Isnt the castle beautiful? Pictures of this castles have been used widely to represent Germany, especially in calendars :) Anyway, i am considering to further my german in NUS. I better brush up my german before the placement test! Hilf mich! :D

ramblings

It's late but so much has happened that i ought to type sth. First things first, i like this photo. The boy's mom must be real proud of him and vice versa too:)
Gek and i were just talking abt this:The more you want something, the more you want to prepare for it, but in reality, preparation doesnt necessarily make things better. Take interviews for example. So many people felt obliged to prepare for the medicine interview cos it just means too much to not do anything about it. But i realise, reading or asking for a lot of opinions might not actually help 'cos the reply to a question usually turns out quite bad when our minds (opps.. i can prob only say for myself) scramble desprately for that perfect ans we have read/heard somewhere. To me, it would have been better if it was all spontaneous, after all, an interview is about how much u really know and who you really are and not what you think you should be. It really ocurred to me when i made comparison btwn my 2 interviews. The teaching interview was a 100 times better when i did zero preparation. Well, even if i dont get the scholarship, cos i told them honestly that medicine was my first choice, at least i have gained sth from this experience :D
This saying goes out to a lot of my friends, though most of them dont know of the existence of this page. I got reminded of this line while talking to one of them and i was so moved by how much abt me was remembered. A BIG Thank You to these people :) Each one of you are AMAZING.
Some things are better slow Hope i get to run soon. I miss doing long dist, i miss the thrill of being able to sustain my run, i miss taking time off to just enjoy running and running only. Most people dont understand why i like running on the track so much, but i think it takes u on another level of understanding of the activity. Well, there are times for nice slow runs with nice scenery to watch (and i like them), but there are times for more to be felt from something simple too.
-sigh-If you are reading this, you must be really bored. The above were just random ramblings. I have more to say, but i'm tired. so, good night.

5 people you meet in Heaven

Just read:The Five People You Meet in Heaven Simply told, this book explores what heaven might be like. Everyone has an idea of heaven, as do most religions, and they should all be respected. I rmbr asking Jon if heaven is a boring place, but the truth is we all wont know until we see the place ourselves. When i was young, i thought going heaven means growing a pair of wings.. haha.. i even wondered if it'll hurt when my wings do grow! Perhaps it is how the media has portrayed it, i've always harboured the impression that heaven will be filled with fluffy white clouds and beautiful music. What's your idea of heaven like?
Anyway, I like the book because it suggests that we sequentially encounter pivotal figures from our lives when we're in heaven. It's a refreshing idea to think that one of God's greatest gift could be to let us understand what happened in our lives. By explaining to us the reason why each event happened, a lot of the answers we've been searching for will be found. It left me wondering who could be my 5 people i'll meet in heaven.
I also liked how the concept of lost loved was explained. The author believes that lost love is still love. It's just love taking a different form. When our loved ones leave us, many sense are weakened but memory heightens. Memories remain and in some ways, they help us realise that we should be thankful that the love was allowed to grow.

Chawanmushi

|i want chawanmushi| I'm not sure if what i'm in is a so-called "inital euphoria" but since my dinner at sakae sushi, i've been SO fascinated by japanese cuisine. Not sure why this is happening for the first time, but i am going to learn to make chawanmushi and much more one of these days. Holiday tmr! Hope my parents let me bake something :)

Absolut* love this one

|Absolut*|This photo still looks as powerful as the day i received it in my mailbox. It's amazing it isnt it? When i look at the photo, there're so many things i see.. Wish i can put into words how much i felt and still feel for this photo, but perhaps you may come close when you look at it closely yourself:)
To the one who picked this card for me: You really know me so well! You have no idea how big a difference this made to my slow sunday morning -grin- ild
