I miss Europe

I've been missing Europe a lot for the past month and i would stop every once in a while to think about where i was exactly one year ago... but the extent of me missing europe didnt warrant me to write abt it until today!

Read about my best holiday, ever here!

While looking thru my europe photos again, i thought this is a nice photo with all 12 of us in it.

One of weixiang's collage which i really like

and of course.. my all time favourite!

RTA! we must travel again together some day!

Night Cycling 3

Photos taken by my treo. I hope to get my hands on the expertly taken ones soon!

Meanwhile,

i ought to catch some sleep, cos after i got home i had less than 4 hrs of interrupted sleep cos my home phone kept ringing.

Nightcycling was tiring, but satisfying, esp after conquering mt faber! :)
To think that ironman quanyao finds mt faber challenging to surmount, you can imagine how much trouble i had!

Oh before i forget to add, i was very happy that we got to cook dinner by the seaside with our own fire and messtin! I was prob most excited cos i last time i did so was during OBS abt 5 yrs ago? While the whole thing reminded the guys of army. haha

Watch this!

I shall not say too much before you watch the clip. I think what they did is just amazing!

Mint Museum

The M.I.N.T museum of toys was a pleasant highlight of my day yesterday! MINT stands for - Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys, and it is the world's first purpose-built museum for toys. We were told also that because the toys were all in mint condition, the name of the museum now has dual meaning!

Y'know... my experience was made wonderful cos it wasnt only the vintage toys that i enjoyed, there was also great food at the cafe and the whole building and even the display shelves were a visual treat for the eye.

I guess we were extremely lucky to have the curator giving us a personal guided tour... otherwise the tour wouldnt have been as fun and meaningful! If he didnt bring my attention to the specially designed shelves, i wouldnt have noticed that it was designed in a way to protect the colours of the toys and also allow the toys to be illuminated without shadows!

Also, i wouldnt know that the building won an architecture award over VIVOCITY. It's really a very pretty building with lotsa glass - something i'd love to have IF i ever get to design my own house.

Friends, if you have the time, do drop by the place.
It's at Seah street, beside Raffles Hotel :)

Things that Make me Happy

Oh dear.. 2/3 of my hols is over... I must say that i've enjoyed it a lot despite not going to krabi :)

So what have i done?

First my family went to ikea...

We bought plenty of shelves and chairs!
So we had plenty to fix!

The shelves were pretty straight forward. I fixed them all by myself, but the chairs had to be painted! So i helped my daddy!

It felt pretty gd when the chairs are almost done!

But these chairs lack a bit of shine. So we'll have to vanish them! Hopefully before school starts :)

I love dumplings! :) Just like how a bowl of noodles mix mix from science can make me happy, dumplings make me happy anytime!

Friends, any gd dumplings to recommend, please let me know!

Mixing with Colours.

I think i will buy one of these one day. Dont you think the colours are just so pretty? Heavy duty stand mixers speeds up everything! Whipping cream which i usually take 20 mins to whip to desired volume takes only 30s? Whoa, this efficiency really blows me away!
Of course... gd things come with a price, so i prob wont get this anytime soon. For now, just looking at them and the brochure is enough to make me happyyyy!

This is something my grandma knows i like a lot... Puffed rice cakes! I was so happy to see that they now come in other colours! The dark purple ones tastes exactly like bubor hitam :) Yum!

Another thing that never fails to make me happy is to dream of a perfect kitchen and house!
Ikea offers excellent solutions! I heart ikea so much tt my friends call it my second home :) (cos i knew most of their products and catalogue like the back of my hands!)

This is by ikea. Doesnt it give u a clean and chic feel? :)

Also, no home is complete without very useful appliances! Brandt is a very gd brand that produces very trusted appliances and obviously, very creative adverts too!

Dreams are good to have, but i'm quite a grounded person who is very contented with everything i have now :)

Especially this person!

Kendrick wearing the Arsenal Jersey i got him:) yay

Dinner today was at a Taiwanese eatery... not too bad! :)

Y'know i think it's a wonderful thing that we have a camera to capture the best moments of our lives. Stimes uploading photos remind me of the show One Hour Photo which had a lot of meaningful msgs. It was rated R21 in sg, but i got to watch it on the plane to Germany in sec3.

The movie One Hour Photo was starred by Robbie williams, and this reminded me of the movie Patch Adams. Friends in med, if u havent watch this movie, you should! It's based on a true story and Robbie williams played a medical student :)

Back to things that make me happy...

Stimes happiness is as simple as mirroring. I'm happy because you are happy! My past few wks have be delightfully sprinkled with birthday parties. In my opinion, the happiness that comes when a friend blows his/her candles and wishes with anticipation is one of a kind? Of course, birthday parties are also a great way to get in touch with long lost friends and also an interesting way to find out that your friends and yourself are acquainted with the birthday girl/boy without knowing?

All these = Happiness

yay.

Happy Birthday Weizhen

The sunset cake turned out to be a bit sour! I wasn't satisfied with the orange chiffon cake. Maybe i should replace it with sponge cake?

The first attempt at the cake tasted better and i thought it could be due to the difference in oranges i used. Next time i'd stick to African Navel oranges :)

Nevertheless, I should give myself a pat on my back for finally breaking away from chocolate cakes! I must say that i'm quite adventurous to modify a recipe!

Y'know, it was awful having to wait so long in fear and anticipation to try the cake. That's the problem when it comes to baking cake for others. All bakers will know! Especially when it comes to baking round cakes.. The baker will never know if he has failed or succeeded in reproducing a gd recipe :)

Many thanks to the birthday girl for giving me the opportunity and experience :) Hope she'll have a blessed year ahead! :)

Sunset Cake

The first cake turned out to be too flat, so this is my second attempt!

Yay:) Hope the birthday girl likes it!

IKEA, Fullerton & Much more

The week hasnt quite ended but i thought i should quickly jot down some of the interesting things i've done before the list gets longer and my post gets longer and there will be a eventual greater risk of me falling asleep when i finally type it. haa.. u get what i mean! :)

Before i start rattling abt what i've been busy with, i should post this pic.

|面搀搀|Man... this is the best thing at science canteen in my opinion. I took this picture on the day we had OSCE test and had a wonderful start to my day with this.

So what have i been busy with since i came back from malaysia?

My family has decided to replace my dinning table chairs cos they've grown wobbly. It was interesting to know that my dinning table, though doesnt look fantastic, cost a lot cos NO nails were used! The downside of such design and supposed precision in workmanship is the interlocking parts of the wood loosens with time and the furniture eventually becomes wobbly.
Anyway, we bought new wooden chairs from ikea and because i'm the free one now, it's my responsibility to fix them :)
Also, the bottom left corner shows my shelf in-the-fixing. I've got 3 new shelves! Yay :)

To make space for new shelves, i had to remove this old shelf which suspended my CD player :)

I also had to take down my tulip portrait cos i now have to hang it higher. So i will post a photo of my room after i finalise everything! :)

Y'know, i'm really envious of some people who do not have built-in furniture like i do, cos they have the flexibility of changing the position of their furniture as and when they want! Wenhui and Weixiang, be thankful k!

While reorganising my storage spaces in my room, i rediscover some of my old toys. The above are just 3 of them. The robot is worth mentioning cos it has "2002" inscribed on it like year 2002 was a super advanced year 30 yrs ago. Hee.. if u're wondering why i own a robot, it's cos i grew up with my male cousins playing guns, robots and planes. LOL. But, like all girls, i got plenty of barbie dolls for my bday. I'm considering giving my barbie dolls and house away.. They take up far too much space!

Next, JAYMIE i found this!

Rmbr the tarepanda bowl u got for me for my bday? Dont ask me why i still keep the box, but i still do plus the candle too! :)

Yesterday was quite an eventful day cos wanzhen accidentally cut herself after tripping over a sharp & pointy edge of a display at Tangs. The folks there were really nice and they rushed her immediately in their company van to their company clinic to get the wound checked. It looked really nasty cos it was bleeding so profusely! Wanzhen, I hope ur foot gets well soon! :)

Last night and today, i attempted to make Sunset cake for the first time. I was considering this cake for Weizhen's bday but
(1) The cake is qt troublesome to make
(2) does not have height

I'm so glad tt i decided to try out this recipe or weizhen's cake is going to less than 1.5 inches tall!

I shall modify the recipe, PLEASE PRAY FOR ME FRIENDS. I hope everything goes well and the bday girl + pple present will like the cake!

Last but not least, the very reason why i'm still up at such an unearthly hour, Gab's Bday treat to Chocolate Buffet at Fullerton!

To Gab, It was awesome! The last time i was this happy with chocolate was at the chocolate museum. Y'know, there was a gold cocoa tree-shaped fountain and visitors could dip their waffer into the pool of chocolate. But your party was better! cos my enjoyment didnt stop at just looking at chocolate and a waffer:) It was just WHOA for me! Yayy... Tonight's experience renewed my love for chocolate and i'm so inspired to create pretty desserts like those on display there. I also managed to talk to one of the chef and she told me a weebit (prob cos it's trade secret) abt how to get the crunchy layer of the fullerton cake. I shall try it out one day! But just that layer is a lot of work, but i should try, since i like it sooo much :):)

I have NO idea that chocolate can keep me awake. Or was it the tea which i also love a lot too? Hmm.. makes me wonder.

Perhaps it's just a simple reason... I'm happy :)
