Staying young at heart

|First day of Lunar New Year| First day of the year has been pretty good. The day started with church service and i listened to the best msg since the start of 2006. I especially liked today's service cos the speaker mentioned abt Audrey Hepburn. Since my first post on 3rd June 2004 on her after reading her biography, i've been searching for this photo that was in the book, much to no avail.. Even after persevering all the image search engines today. Hmm.. I really want to show everyone what Staying young at heart really means. That picture captured her strong resplendent youth that she exudes from deep within her silver-haired frame. In my opinion, she aged so beautifully!
Anyway, I learnt today that aging really begins when we start to think "no, it's impossible" or "There's no hope". Where's is the equivalence of the courage we had when we took our first step? Why do we give up more easily as we age? Is it simply cos we know ourselves and our limits better as we grow old? We too become less inquisitive, look at things less simply and most importantly many of us stop to love unconditionally..
I like the Audrey Hepburn that was active in creating the awareness of the children's plight in Africa. The unconditional love she bestowed upon the children probably contributed to her beauty as she aged.
This New Year, as families gather and children run about, i hope everyone gets reminded and reaquainted with the child inside them :)

love my weekend

I felt that my weekend was very well spent apart from the fact that i didnt get a single bit of work done. Hopefully i will not be in too much of a festive mood this week and make up for it!

This week is most remembered for the time spent with family. Since i moved into hall, i've been learning to appreciate "family time" more. This week my family went to Parkway parade and we dropped by a pet shop to buy our family pet his shampoo. Look at the hamsters and rabbits there!! :)

Sunday was the more happening of the 2 days this weekend. After church, i came back to sch for table tennis steamboat. WHOA! i was so impressed by their creativity!! They used rice cookers as steamboat pots. They worked equally well :)
After steamboat was supermarketing at IMM Giant for block supper grocceries tt took much longer than expected!! You should be there at Giant urself. It was so PACKED! Thanks to my dad's encouragement to take the car. Without the car, the taxi queue would be enough to make all of us faint! Not only did the car provided much convenience, i got a bit more familiar with some roads in the west :)
Now west wont be just abt NUS to me :)
I'm dead tired.. my plans to do some work tonight has gone down the drain.. OPPS!

Happy Birthday Jaymie!!

I havent celebrated birthday for this girl proper for a few years. Since RGS? Jaymie you rmbr how ur sis bought u a cake and we celebrated in the morning at prefects' room? -lol- And do you rmbr how serene said right into ur face,"Dont talk to Jaymie we're all pretending we forgot it's her bdae." -Lol- I miss those days i get to see u everyday. Sometimes i find that after O's we took separate paths on a fork junction. I used to believe, and still do that our friendship's one tt can be weathered. I'll be always around for you. Even when u think i may not be able to understand, at least i can provide a listening ear :)
As for pansy and ziqian, i was so glad tt i could see them both since MJ's farewell lunch at sph. Ziqian is till as funny as ever. I was so complimented ystdy when he thought my chinese improved. Ha.. Thanks to HCJC 03S78 pple, more specifically ryantouragency ba :)
Tmr's a busy sunday. Hopefully i will be able to get some work done nevertheless :)

Found it!!

I love the last line!!

Thanks Boss

|Chinese New Year is Near| Heard from boss baiwei that his fave confectionary stall from HK comes only twice to Singapore. To think that they come only once for Midautumn festival and once for CNY, this means CNY is really round the corner. About 10 days away?
Anyway, thanks boss for this delightful treat. I've only tried the almond finger and i must say it sure set extra high standards for the rest in the box!! :)
How often does such a gd boss cum neighbour cum coach cum friend come along? :) -grin-

Belated Birthday

Ji'an our vice block head just sent me some photos. Must really thank him for being the photographer! If he didnt pull out his camera, i might not have a single photo of a birthday cake this year! Ha.. though the one he took has already been cut.
Birthday celebration with the block com was extremely hilarious and not quite a surprise cos of my neighbour. You know those familiar accidents when u intend to inform a group of friends abt a surprise u planned and u send the msg to the someone the surprise is intended for? Perhaps my neighbour didnt do it quite so "unintendedly" cos there's another ivy in the committee :) I'm guessing the msg was intended for her :)
The next funniest thing she did was she replied to the whole of yahoogroups saying she's going to buy a cake -lol- Guess she put it quite nicely herself: on my birthday, she surprised more of the rest of the committee than her neighbour herself :)
To those who has made this years birthday a very special one, you have no idea how much it means to me to know that you all rmbred :)

Changi Airport

It's been a while since i took a flight from Changi Airport Terminal 2. I was there just a while ago and its transformation left me in total awe!! Gosh, as i headed to the viewing gallery hoping to watch some planes, i realised we can now see the restricted part of the airport where passengers await to depart. The architecture is AMAZING I tell you! Though i was there at night, i can imagine how the place will be bathed with lots of natural light in the day. I love buildings with lots of glass. Dont you think that glass give this transparency that's practical and also exude the class and elegance? Here's a pic i found off the net. Hmm.. Sometimes admiring architectural designs inevitably remind me of my cousin back in hall. I can just imagine the day i can point proudly at a building and tell my friends,"i know the guy who design this great building." Anyway, it's not just the glass that i like, i think the facilities the airport provides are excellent! Can you believe it? They even have Osim isqueeze for the passengers!!
Being at the airport made me want to put down everything and fly somewhere. If only i had the money and time to just pack away and leave the country :)
Haa.. obviously, i dont have both the money and time, so i made do with a drive along the tree-lined stretched behind the airport. Watching the planes take off and hearing their loud roar just now made me super exhilarated!!
What a perfect way to end my first saturday of the term :)

2006, I'm Twenty

I've been wanting to post for the longest time. But each time when i feel this great urge to type sth to share with the world, my laptop will just be not with me. Hmm.. and when i finally sit myself before the computer, i realise all my inspiration will be gone. Now that school has started, it might be impossible to write abt each of the situations when i wanted to log on to blogger, but i'll tryy nevertheless. No promises though :) Anyway, for myself, i thought it'll be nice also if i had the time to recap my 2005 in pictures and collages. December itself is enough for me write a huge chunk about how much i enjoyed myself. Anyway, here's a few collages for the new year.

|Tulips| My first 2 tulips!! Thanks to boss baiwei and burger wenjun. I so absolutely love them. So much that i took a gazillion photos of them. Ha.. i wonder if flowers will be camera-shy :) The tulips look good both together and close-up on their own, dont they? Sadly, this is what is left of them now :(

|Table Tennis| IHG was just before term started. Hmm.. still cant believed that i actually played but i was glad that i got to experience the competition adrenaline rush! I always tell pple that picking up table tennis was one of the best decision i made. 'cos i realise i have never really played an individual sport that competes one on one. Table tennis is alot different from running, high jump, netball, swimming etc that i have taken part in before :) I guess Table tennis is harder than what most people thing, that is if u want to perfect it. There's so much about precision, control, coordination, judgement in it!! :) Hope to play it again soon :)

|Room in KE|Thanks to kendrick and ryantouragency, my bed looks super inviting now. The quilt has been very helpful lately with the weather being so chilly. The cushion! I was so touched that my new friends could pick sth i like so much :)

|Birthday Surprises| This year, birthday is extra special 'cos i realise many new groups of pple actually celebrated my birthday for me. I still get very embarrassed when people sing me my birthday song though, cos i feel funny being the centre of attention.

To everyone who has made the start of the new year a great one, hope there's a great GREAT year ahead for us all :)
