Lucky

I love this dog so much! :) He was so friendly and warmly welcoming today even though i was expecting him to forget who i am since i last saw him many months ago before kendrick left for denmark. He had short hair then and looked like a chihuahua!

When i saw him today, he reminded me of a ball. He was like a fur ball rolling excitedly about the house. Quite cute!

Here's the chihuahua cut in January

When he was a puppy and had the softest-ever-felt puppy fur coat

Meet the fur ball, now with his full adult fur coat :)
Photobucket

Dont you think he looks like he is smiling?
Photobucket

Now meet his toy which he carries around everywhere

Sometimes he appears to be rather possessive of his teddy.

Isnt he adorable?? Hope you like him too!

Dog-shaped

Photobucket

I saw this in my friend's notes today and it reminded me of ureter histology. Honestly, this is how i recognise a ureter under a microscope since year one, but of cos, some ureter lumen requires quite a bit of imagination for you to see the dog.

Photobucket

Actually most of them resemble the balloon sausage dog. Maybe you can look out for it the next time :)

On the topic of dog... how many of you rmbr this cartoon that use to play on saturday 1pm?

Photobucket

It was called 家有贱狗 and after this series of cartoon ended, it was replaced by 宇宙小毛球. I rmbr i was so sad when it was the last episode! Cos i found the cartoon really funny :)

I think i have a couple of this comic somewhere :)

F1 Hype

So many people are tuning in to the Grand prix this very moment and i have my tv on while i am typing this too!

To be honest, i'm not terribly interested, but i do think abt the driving conditions and the immense pressure the drivers undergo in that tight space and crazy speed :)

Guess i'm not that guy to really enjoy the car racing. In fact, i spent the evening helping my mom with her first pasta carbonara. haha.. quite homely -lol-

Photobucket

My mom's recipe called for white wine. And we wonderfully didnt have an opener. Thankfully i thought of using my swiss army all purpose thing my dad gave me!

On the whole, the pasta is not bad! Although it doesnt look very covered in cream, the fusilli has taken up quite a bit of the cream. Unfortunately, i'm not too big a fan of cream based pasta or i would have loved this recipe a lot more.

Hopefully i will have more opportunity to experiment in the kitchen in future :)

Happy Weekend :)

Velda suggested on thurs that we organise a prawning session for our jc class on fri night.. but too bad it was too last min and very few people could make it :(

Just when i thought i've missed another prawning opportunity, yang suggested we go prawning! yay

Yang the pro...

Photobucket
We waited and we waited............ and we waited......
and according to wx's sis, yang started to look depressed.

Photobucket
Wx's sis say i'm oppostie of yang, still optimistic.

Photobucket
Oh.. and we waited somemore!

So when did we catch our first prawn?
Photobucket
When it was already dark as u can see!

Usually, when there is a more pro cameras around, i generally dont take out my humble compact camera..

But i tried taking a few shots in the suboptimal lighting ystdy!

Experimented with and without flash :)

Last pic of the prawning xp
Photobucket
This prawn took such a big bite that it was almost dead when we finally fish the hook out :(

----------

Today, i took a picture of white carrot cake. Although the best i've had is at bukit timah market, this is not bad too, which i have every occasional sunday after church :)

Photobucket
Photobucket

Today is happy sunday cos i found something in the supermarket!
Photobucket

Orange chocolate museli bar :) Hope it taste as nice as it sounds :) yay...

Ohh.. today i also thought my parents are very cute. In the morn, my dad was watching cartoons and the next moment, he was giving very serious commands to his men using his walkie talkie. What a huge contrast! Then my mom left her huge blue hair curler on her head and almost wore it to church!

Cute parents :)

You're My Person

I feel quite well rested these few days and i feel all ready for anaesthesia too! :)
Thinking abt anasethsia leaves me kinda excited cos of the possibility of me liking it, a lot :)

Anyways, i watched grey's anatomy today! And i found this part of season 5 episode 2 really funny!

You can watch this part too :)

Who is ur person?

Secret Fave Colour

i was just looking at my bag and i realise purple isnt so 'secret' a favourite colour afterall..

Because

Photobucket]

A look into my bag will show you that

Photobucket

Inside my purple bag, i was carrying a purple jacket, book and snapball!
Fortunately there is still evidence of green or it might seem like purple has overtaken green :)

It's interesting.. I do not consciously know that i like purple, but a lot of things around me happen to end up purple. I still rmbr that in year 1 my friends all thought Purple was my fave colour. haha :)

Photobucket

Anyway, out-of-pointly, i saw this at a bakery and thought they look really cute. I shall make these for the church children one day :)

自然醒

Last night must have been the most restorative sleep i've had in a long while probably cos i was truly tired! I think physical fatigue is more likely to promise you a good night sleep than anything else :)

It's nice that writing here is the last thing i do before i sleep and first thing i do after i wake up. I left my eeepc right next to my bed! :)

Ystdy was not only restful, i dreamt of pretty and happy things too! Some of my friends say my dream manufacturing part of my brain is very suggestible and true enough, i dreamt that my friend (i cant rmbr who she is for sure! I suspect it's mon mon cos she and i talked abt green specs ystdy) and i co-owned a spectacle shop and the concept of the specs we're selling is similar gab's bag and new specs with exchangable parts. The specs my shop was selling had exchangable sides and they are very pretty lor! The girls can get floral design, the boys can get plain colour or cool designs and of course there were other artsy fartsy or cool prints to add a little twist to the initally simple pair of spectacles :):)

Photobucket

Then i also had a dream abt deciding to go and jog after teaching tuition. Perhaps i've been yearning to get paid too much that tuition is actually subconciously always on my mind OR it is because my student lives beside bedok resevoir which is a very nice place to jog. Anyway, in my dream i supposedly went to bird park (???) but when i was jogging it felt like it was botanical gardens with the flowers in full bloom! yay

After a while, I looked at my watch and realise it is abt dusk and i thought i'd like to catch the sunset. As i was jogging, i decided to check my bag for my camera and mini tripod! I was so happy that i had it, even though i never in real life jog with my bag :) hahaha I actually intended to run to this place known to have beautiful sunset (which looks so familiar and i think i dreamt of the place before!!!) then i got stopped by someone behind. A fren in hospital scrub was actually jogging too! HAHA.. this is really funny to me cos at costumes meeting ystdy, we were thinking abt how to find sweeper's clothes and someone suggested wearing oversized inverted scrubs so that the hospital name isnt visible. And this is what that friend did lor! Jogging in inverted srubs. Then we ran a bit and he was stopped by a consultant, which i wasnt involved in their conversation, not sure if it was regarding wearing scrubs out in public.. haha

When we finally got to my destination, i was so sad that the sunset wasnt nice cos it was very cloudy :( When i was about to leave, i met xiaoxuan in the same attire i saw her in yesterday! I suspect it is cause i saw her from afar and never got a chance to talk to her but i really wanted to at least say hi :)

On a whole, i think my dreams are pretty interesting. They sort of summarise some of the things that make up my life these days. Haha.. unfortunately, i didnt dream of my eeepc!

spectacles, friends (both those i've been in contact with and those i havent spoken to for eons), jogging, tuition, photography, mini tripod, pretty flowers to make me feel happy, disappointment, playhouse costumes??? etc

Hope a good day is awaiting for me :) yay

so tired...

i am so tired after helping out with playhouse props today that i took so long to walk from the bus stop home. Then when i got home, i realised i was even too tired to stand and had a tremendous inertia to bathe! glad i finally did, so now i can rest comfortably on my bed and blog with my eeepc:)

anyway, why the hurry to blog when i´m tired? Shouldn´t i be sleeping?

i have 3 pics to share taken with my eeepc during lecture today :)

Photobucket
this is chinsiang, now a proud owner of msi wind :) taking photos was his idea!

Boring lecture and someone is sleeping!

Qt funny right? have a good night rest everybody! tgif tmr!

What does this mean?

Today i thought about what a lot of things mean and sometimes ignorance is a blessing.

Amongst the many thoughts i have, my patho write up on breast carcinoma in situ got me thinking about how i'd feel if one day my doctor tells me "we suspect this mamograph finding is something sinister", "the report shows that this is indeed cancer". As doctors, i realise we are usually the ones breaking the bad news but do we really understand what it means to the person receiving the information?

There are so many possibilities to how a person receiving bad news may react.
(1) Super anxious / depressed
(2) Fatalistic
(3) Calm because to true implication of a serious diagnosis is not experienced yet
(4) etc

Agree?

Anyway, it also occurred to me that after receiving a medical education, such bad news may impart unexplainable feelings cos u just know more than an average layman. The worst case scenarios are usually not very plesant. Hence in a way, igorance is bliss.

On the other, some doctors will feel that they have seen it all and come to the understanding that we all have to die anyway. Hence, they may appear nonchalant. Truly nonchalant? i dont know..

Hai..

Also, i was just thinking, each time u read about side effects of medications u're prescribed, how mentally prepared are u to let it happen to u? If u're a doctor telling ur patients about the serious side effects of their therapy, how mentally prepared are u to really see it happening to ur patient? I rmbr a case of stevens johnson after taking tegretol for fits. The pain i saw the girl in, i certainly cannot imagine myself in her doctor's shoes.

Perhaps all these feelings is out of my inexperience. Hope i will one day grow to understand it all :)

Something Right

This is a must watch too :) Hope u havent had too much about wall-e. But i really do love everything abt this clip! From the song and the chosen parts of the movie strung together to fit so nicely with the song :)

Specky

Y'know this morning i decided not to bring my eeepc to the mortuary cos i figured that it might not be safe to leave it unattended but i started to miss it in the morning already when i had nothing much to do while waiting!

Gab says this is called 'love'. Indeed, my eeepc is my new love :)

I wished i had my eeepc with me when i had the urge to blog, to 'preserve' a momentary thought. It's interesting how i feel blogging 'restrospectively' is not as nice and even real.

Today was rather interesting. I shall not go into details about what i saw in the morning. There was a diver found after 2 weeks and i must admit the smell it emitted almost drove me back out the door i walked in. Y'know, i found it somewhat surprising that i am OK with all the cutting and sawing of autopsy and in fact, my first thought wasnt "ewwww.. this is gross and disgusting" but rather "this is an amazing way to really appreciate anatomy". Am i weird? Hopefully this isnt a sign for me to become a forensic pathologist.

Anyway, maybe i shall leave my thoughts about forensic pathology till another post. Cos today i want to share with u what i found today!

Photobucket

There is a shop called litmus at Queensway that i've always thought is rather peculiar and has left me an impression thru my countless visits to queensway, even though i have never walked into it.

Photobucket

They now have a new boutique at bugis and i found this pair of specs that is very me!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Green with leafy designs. I really like the colour.. maybe cos turquoise is like 2 of my favourite colours combined :) I couldnt decide if i truly like the leafy design actually.

Nevertheless, this specs is something truly different from all others i have ever owned :)

I went to the website of my spectacle frame manufacter and found some other nice frames!

Photobucket
This is so greenly pretty :)

You can consider looking at all their specs here at lunettes bleuciel :)

Contemplative Mood

I've been in contemplative mood since ystdy and even though i dont like to blog retrospectively, i thought i should share some of the questions i had ystdy :)

1. Would u consider an arranged marriage?
From what i've heard, the practice of arranged marriages still occurs even among the educated indians. I used to have reservations about arranged marriages cos what is the chance of having someone that complements u being chosen for u? On some days, i'd be optimistic and believe that people who love u and have arranged the marriage should have chosen the very best in their knowledge for you.
On other days, i think that it'll be super awful to find out on ur wedding day that the person u're marrying is the one u most cannot get along with in the kampong. Then how?
Wenyang was quick enough to say that the chance of that happening is low cos usually the match maker is the most nosey and would have known from the start not to pair 2 enemies up.

Interestingly, we discussed abt this during GP in rjc. Our GP teacher thinks that marriages in the past seems to last longer for various reason. When it comes to arranged marriages, there is this element of obligation that binds the couple and they both try their very best to accept one another or compromise. Nowadays, marriage mostly occurs out of love and when love subsides, marriage goes downhill :(

2. If u have to get married today, would u choose someone u know or an arranged marriage?

3. If u have chosen an arranged marriage, is there someone u hope to be ur spouse?

In a way, arranged marriages are like surprises with life long implications. No one said that surprises are always meant to be pleasant.. so today, i think that unless i really have a need to, i'd still prefer to marry someone i know :)

What about u?

Spirals

Photobucket

I found this art piece i drew when i was in rjc art club. One of my favourites!
Unfortunately, some rain water got onto one part of the drawing... can u see it? qt sad.

I really cannot rmbr.. but maybe i got my inspiration from Nautilus.

Rmbr why the nautilus shells have so many compartment? I posted abt it in march this yr! Here is the wiki article :)

I think i tried to draw a series of such spirals in different colour schemes but this, the first one, is still the best. Some how, the most original is usually the best. It happens when i bake too. When i use the same recipe again, sometimes i become complacent in subsequent batches and i'd always think the first batch was the best :) Perhaps i'm just biased :)

Hope everyone is having a great sunday :)

Happy Saturday

Today is yet another happy Saturday! So Saturday shall officially be my favourite day of the week from now on :) I went to Ikea for lunch with family and kendrick.

I saw this piece of glass that really made my day!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Then i went to one of my favourite part of Ikea - The poster/painting and art section! These 2 pieces caught my attention :) Please pardon the reflection.. cos all the posters were plastic wrapped.

Photobucket

Photobucket

This at the exit made me smile :)Even though i didnt do the ceremonial thing to eat a hot dog at each visit. The poster was really super biggg!
Photobucket

Today, i also helped my mom with a cake for the church :)
Simply decorated chiffon cake. Looks like a giant donut right?

Photobucket

In the evening was treat the weiyan dinner :) Met the guys after they watched wall-e for some American food at billy bombers. We chose this place cos the bday boy loves western food :) haha

I took really lousy photos cos
1) I think the lighting wasnt optimal
2) I was lazy cos wx had a better camera
3) I was really enjoying myself in the ongoing conversation
